Working Class Theater NW
Once upon a time there was a girl who fell in love with theater. She loved it for the stories, the teamwork and the way the creative chaos fused people together. She wanted everyone to love theater like she did, but found that there were many obstacles to this artistic utopia. Many people did not understand or value theater. Others could not afford it, or found the quality or relevance less than ideal. So she decided to open her own theater. One that was affordable- so that everyone was able to attend. One that told stories from as many perspectives as possible- so that no one was excluded. One that led by example in terms of quality, community and education. So she gathered her friends, who also loved theater, and invited them to join her in creating theater that valued the intelligence and skills of artists and audiences alike. What you see here is the product of a theater community that exemplifies the hard work, resourcefulness, and dedication of the working class people that built the Pacific Northwest. Be a part, not of the magic of theater, for the magic is fleeting. Instead, help us explore the reality of good theater, done well. Welcome to our community.
