Walking Round in Circles
In preparation for opening my own theater space, I am cleaning up my online presence. Wouldn't it be nice to have a personal blog about my theater experiences, as well as a blog that directors, designers and actors can contribute to about the theater. A dual impact of blogging that encompasses the personal and the public. In doing so, I ran across this blog, read my two posts from years ago and thought- huh, I haven't changed much. I still haven't found the magic bullet of job security and flexibility, and I'm still focused on the audience. I am also still easily bored by events that don't appear to make some effort to engage with their potential and actual audience. Interesting too, that's it has taken me well over a decade to figure out what I want to be when I grow up, even though the seeds of this idea have been around since I took up theater in high school.
I am going to open my own theater. With my fantastic husband and a solid group of talented theater people. I have ideas, oh do I have ideas. There are gaps in theater art and community that need to be filled, and I want to co-ordinate the group that tackles those challenges head on. Enough of waiting for someone else to hire me and give me a direction in life. I'm gonna hire myself. Tomorrow, I'll give you a run down on my mission and goals. For now, I'll just say, it's good to be here. Welcome.
